Explanation
Thread looping means that loose loops of thread appear during embroidery – either on the top surface or on the underside of the fabric.
This makes the embroidery look uneven and untidy.
Common causes
- Incorrect thread tension (too loose or unbalanced)
- Thread not properly threaded through the machine
- Unsuitable or damaged embroidery thread
- Lint or dirt in the thread path or bobbin case
- Stitching too fast for the chosen thread/fabric
Solutions
- Check and adjust both top and bobbin thread tension
- Verify correct threading of the machine
- Use suitable, high-quality embroidery thread
- Clean the machine and bobbin case regularly
- Reduce machine speed if necessary
Tip: If looping mainly happens with specialty threads (e.g. metallics), try using a special needle or adjusting tension settings.
