EMD file

EMD is the embroidery format of Elna Xquisite machines and some Singer models that share the same platform.

What is a EMD file?

EMD is a stitch format used by Elna Xquisite embroidery machines and by Singer models built on the same platform (for example XL 5000 and XL 6000). The designs were originally delivered on memory cards.

Features & use

  • Used by Elna Xquisite and related Singer machines.
  • Stitch data with color information.
  • Elna is part of the Janome group, so JEF and SEW are the closest relatives.

Notes

  • Newer Elna machines read JEF; EMD mainly matters for older collections.
  • Converting EMD to JEF or PES keeps the stitches.
