Design of the Month November 2026:
“ITH Häuser” by Mäde! by Kasia
November is here, and with it the time for planning Advent calendars, fairy lights and the first handmade gifts. 🏠✨
Our Design of the Month 2026 campaign enters its second-to-last round, this time with a project that does three jobs at once.
Together with Mäde! by Kasia, we are giving you the embroidery files “ITH Häuser” (ITH houses) for free this November: four three-dimensional Advent houses numbered 1 to 4 that work as a four-week Advent calendar, as gift packaging, or as light houses for the windowsill.
As always:

🏠 The “ITH Häuser” project
The houses are made entirely in the hoop. Facade with windows, arched door and house number, roof with a shingle pattern: everything is stitched as one flat piece, then folded and glued into a house.
A finished house is about 18 cm (7 in) tall and 6.5 cm (2.5 in) wide and deep. The top is closed with a clip, a clothespin or a ribbon; a base can be added but is optional.

The files come in two versions, depending on your hoop size:
- 13 x 18 cm (5 x 7 in) hoop: Each house is hooped and stitched twice. The design measures 179 x 128 mm.
- 20 x 26 cm or 20 x 30 cm (8 x 10 in or 8 x 12 in) hoop: Each house is stitched in a single run. The design measures 256 x 179 mm.
Included in the download:
- 8 embroidery files “ITH Häuser” with the numbers 1 to 4, for the small and the large hoop
- a PDF template for the base
- a quick guide and PDF color charts
Formats: EXP, HUS, JEF, PES, VP3, VIP, XXX and DST.
🎁 Three ways to use the houses this Advent
Four-week Advent calendar. The four houses numbered 1 to 4 stand for the four Sundays of Advent. Each house holds a small surprise and is closed at the top with a clip.
Gift packaging. A single house replaces the gift bag: chocolates, a voucher or a small piece of jewelry fit inside, and the packaging stays as a decoration afterwards.
Light house. With a battery-operated candle or a short string of lights, the windows glow through the stabilizer. Four houses side by side make a small Christmas street for the windowsill.

✨ Mixed media: glitter, paint or sublimation
Typical for Kasia, the project does not end at the embroidery machine. The houses can be “glittered” with hot foil, painted, or sublimated. In the sample photos, the facades are dusted with gold glitter and the house numbers are stitched in red.

Kasia’s material tip: Make the houses with 1 mm embroidery felt or woven cotton. Both materials need to be fused with Vlieseline H250 interfacing on the back.
🧰 Materials you need
- Spunbond stabilizer 120 (one 50 x 150 cm piece is enough for all four houses)
- embroidery threads
- size 70 needle
- HT2 glue
- clips, clothespins, paper clips or ribbon to close the top edge
- optional: hot foil, embroidery foil and sublimation paper if needed
- standard sewing tools such as scissors, marking pen, seam gauge or ruler
- battery-operated candle or string lights for use as a light house
Kasia’s shop ships from Germany; the product pages are in German.
🧵 About Mäde! by Kasia
Behind Mäde! is Kasia, who describes herself as addicted to embroidery. 🤭
Her designs combine traditional embroidery with modern mixed-media techniques: hot foil, embroidery foil, sublimation, 3D foam. Even if the projects look elaborate at first glance, they are easy to follow thanks to detailed instructions and videos.
Kasia is a familiar name at emborado. In May she contributed the Mother’s Day bouquet as Design of the Month, and before that the lily Halloween freebie and the Easter mug rug campaign with eight designs in eight days.

🗂️ Keep Christmas projects together with emborado
An ITH project like the houses is not one file. It is eight embroidery files, a base template, a guide and color charts, and sets like this are the first thing to get lost in a downloads folder.
In emborado, the project stays together: the embroidery files are grouped as one design with all formats, the PDFs sit next to it as related files, and collections let you keep all Christmas and Advent projects in one place. Our guide on how to organize embroidery designs shows how to move an existing library over without sorting it first.
October’s “Gesteck” by Cora Design fits nicely into the same collection, by the way.
