TAP file

TAP is the machine format of Happy embroidery machines; it contains DST-style stitch data without a header.

What is a TAP file?

TAP is the native format of Happy embroidery machines (HappyJapan). It holds stitch commands in the same style as DST, but without the DST header.

Features & use

  • Used on Happy single-head and multi-head commercial machines.
  • Stitch data only, no thread colors or design objects.
  • Many digitizing programs can export TAP directly.

Notes

  • Because it is so close to DST, converting between the two is lossless for the stitches.
  • Thread colors have to be set on the machine or kept in a separate color chart.
