PES file

PES is a common Brother/Baby Lock embroidery format containing stitches, color changes, and typically an embedded PEC preview.

What is a PES file?

PES is a Brother/Baby Lock hybrid format: it stores stitch data, color changes, and usually an embedded PEC block (preview/display data).

Features & use

  • Very popular for home machines (Brother, Baby Lock).
  • Includes stitches, colors, and preview graphics (PEC).
  • Broad software support.

Notes

  • Different PES revisions exist; older machines may require older versions.
  • Converting to DST/EXP/JEF/VP3 is common but may flatten high-level objects to plain stitches.
