Designer

A designer creates embroidery motifs – either digitally or by hand – and often also digitizes them for embroidery machines.

Explanation

A designer is the person who creates the creative motif for embroidery.
This is usually done digitally with design or embroidery software, but sometimes it starts as a hand drawing that is later digitized.

Designers often also act as digitizers, converting their designs into embroidery files.

Tasks of a designer

  • Creating motifs (e.g. logos, patterns, illustrations)
  • Developing themed collections (Christmas, animals, lettering, etc.)
  • Working with digitizers or digitizing their own work

Importance

Designers are the creative source of embroidery. Without them, there would be no motifs to stitch.
Many designers sell their work in online shops or marketplaces. You can find a list of popular ones in our Designer Directory.
