Explanation
A designer is the person who creates the artwork for embroidery or a sewing pattern for a sewing project. This is usually done digitally with graphic design, pattern-making, or embroidery software, but sometimes it starts as a hand drawing that is later digitized.
For embroidery designs, designers often also act as digitizers, converting their artwork into embroidery files.
Tasks of a designer
- Creating designs (e.g. logos, patterns, illustrations) or digital sewing patterns
- Developing themed collections (Christmas, animals, lettering, etc.)
- For embroidery designs: Working with digitizers or digitizing their own work
- For sewing patterns: Creating and preparing digital sewing patterns
Importance
Designers are the creative source behind embroidery designs and digital sewing patterns. Without them, there would be no designs to embroider or sewing patterns to use for sewing projects. Many designers offer their embroidery designs and sewing patterns in their own shops or on marketplaces. You can find a list of notable designers in our Designer Directory.
Note on emborado
Did you know that in emborado you can add the designer’s name when uploading an embroidery file or digital sewing pattern? This makes the designer available as a filter later – perfect when you want to quickly find files by specific designers.
