Recap: emborado at the TexTech Start-up Night 2025

Last night, we joined the TexTech Start-up Night with emborado at the Textile Academy NRW in Mönchengladbach. Organized by the digihub Düsseldorf/Rheinland, the event offered an exciting overview of current developments in the TexTech space – from smart textiles and new materials to sustainable production methods and advanced recycling approaches.

An evening full of new perspectives

For us as a software startup in the DIY/textile ecosystem, the event offered a refreshing change of perspective. Many of the topics presented – such as innovative fibers and novel recycling methods – were entirely new territory for us and all the more inspiring.

The two winning pitches particularly stood out:

• Sizeless with their adjustable children’s shoe that reduces textile consumption
• Vyld, who develop period products made from seaweed and pursue an impressively consistent sustainability approach

Both projects highlight just how much innovative energy currently drives the textile industry.

In conversation with start-ups, investors and industry experts

We had a small booth and also took part in the pitch battle ourselves – a great opportunity to present our vision for emborado and gather feedback from a completely new audience.
One thing became clear: chaotic file folders on personal computers are a widespread issue. All the better that emborado can offer a solution that creates real value, especially for creative people working with textiles.

Throughout the evening, we had numerous conversations with founders, representatives of established textile companies, and investors. It was particularly interesting to see how strongly topics like digitalization, data management and platform solutions are now gaining relevance in textile-related fields.

What we took away

• The TexTech sector is full of momentum and rich in innovation potential
• Sustainable and circular textile products are becoming a clear priority
• There are more intersections between traditional textile innovations and digital solutions like emborado than we expected
• And last but not least: pitching to a new community sharpens your story every single time

Our conclusion: The TexTech Start-up Night was far more than just another event. It gave us new insights into an exciting industry, expanded our network, and provided valuable motivation for the next steps with emborado.
